The mission of the A.M.E. Zion Church is to increase our Love for God and to help meet the needs of mankind by, “loving God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.”
The Mission and Purpose of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed.
At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Zion Church evolved: that is, to seek and save the lost, and serve the needy through a continuing program of:
• Preaching the gospel, • Feeding the hungry, • Clothing the naked, • Housing the homeless, • Cheering the fallen, • Providing jobs for the jobless, • Administering to the needs of those in prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, asylums and mental institutions, senior citizens’ homes; caring for the sick, the shut-in, the mentally and socially disturbed, and • Encouraging thrift and economic advancement.
To establish a committed relationship to God the Father by faithfully studying his Word.
To obey his commandments and trust in His promises.
To use our various spiritual gifts to teach those who will learn...for the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ and the edification of His church.
To work on one accord through private and public worship and ushering in a new millennium of bold witness, high praise and devoted service. i.e.(Ministries of Excellence.)
We will continue to build and restore the tabernacle of David, "till we all come to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God... "
